Hiltrud Breyer is a German Green MEP and draftswoman of the European Parliament report on authorisation of pesticides. She hails the agreement, to be voted by the EP on 13 January, as a milestone in consumer and environmental protection. The pesticides legislation will not allow renewal of authorisation for pesticides that are harmful to health, specifically that are carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction or endocrine-disrupting.
