EU laws are not being vigorously or consistently applied in key areas, like environment, consumer protection and public health. The new proposal by the Commission to deal with complaints by EU citizens as regards the violation of European directives by national authorities could lead to an abdication of responsibility by the Commission for investigating and exposing the non-application of European laws.
