The strategic importance of Central Asia for Europe is definitely increasing. Human rights, good governance, the rule of law and democratisation should be the core of the EU strategy in Central Asia. Nevertheless, a differentiation with regard to the EU approach
to the human rights situation in the different countries is needed.
