Suggested text (feel free to modify and sign)	Public Services As it stands, the proposed services directive doesn't only cover purely commercial services but equally all services of general economic interest (postal, gas, electricity) and social services. As such the proposed directive constitutes a threat to public services in that public authorities would no longer be able to compel service providers to observe public interest obligations. Applied as it stands, it would undermine the quality of these services.
